Representative Services
All companies in Japan require a Representative Director. This must be someone resident in Japan, either a Japanese national, or a non-Japanese with proper visa status. Individuals with certain visa types are ineligible to serve as Representative Directors.
Many firms choose to appoint an outside party knowledgeable in Japanese business systems as their Representative Director. This is an effective way to bring a third party voice to the table to help mitigate disagreements between head office and local management.
The Representative Director’s name is also associated with contracts, leases, and other important documents, so it is a position of importance, risk and liability. This often makes it difficult for foreign firms to find someone willing to serve this role. Solid Japan can act as your Representative Director in Japan.
